As government offices where people would usually go to, Eleazar said that police stations and precincts must always be clean not only inside but also outside.
“We want to ensure that all police stations and precincts are presentable. Even if the equipment and other materials inside the police stations are already old, the police commanders should make sure that what they have are presentable police offices,” said Eleazar.
He said police commanders should also make sure that the comfort rooms are clean and are working for the sake of complainants, especially women.
Eleazar recently inspected at least 10 police community precincts in Metro Manila. While the police stations are clean, the surrounding areas are untidy.
The official said that he usually finds cigarette butts, wrappers of candy or plastic bottles outside the police stations.
“I gave them a warning first. I told them to clean up and then I will go back. I talked to their chiefs of police and station commanders regarding the inspection,” said Eleazar.
“Cleanliness is a must. It is important to have a good and clean working environment,” he added.
There are 187 police community precincts in Metro Manila and Eleazar said that he intends to visit all of them. He said that police stations will also be visited.
